View looking onto the line and tunnel
With accompanying letterpress description: The train then plunges into the series of tunnels which carry the track through a narrow limestone gorge and only fleeting views are obtained as the train passes in and out of the tunnels. The line finally emerges at Kata Kushta Station above the Khyber nullah and the road. From here there are no more tunnels up to the summit at Landi Kotal and the train commences a long climb up the Khyber valley. The valley, at first narrow and precipitous, gradually widens out and the country becomes slightly less grim and inhospitable. Fields and villages of the Zakka Khel Afridis are passed, each village being enclosed with a high wall and having its watch tower standing like a light-house at one corner
