View looking towards the canal, with the bridge on the right and trees on the far side. With accompanying note: 'Placé sur un grand canal de dérivation du Nil qui sert à arroser les champs cultivés, ce pont réunit Syout, placé à gauche, à son port, situé à quelque distance sur la droite. Les arbres à la tête du pont sont des sycomores, sorte de figuiers qui acquièrent en Égypte une très grande élévation, et qui sont, dans ce pays, à peu près les seuls végétaux donnant l’ombre et de la fraîcheur.'
