View looking along the columned façade facing onto the Anguri Bagh, the garden overlooked by the Khas Mahal: 'This plate represents a portion of the north side of the Khas Muhul, and conveys a good impression of the general style of the Nort, West, and South sides of the enclosure. The building is two stories high, and consists of a series of halls or open apartments, separated by small chambers, as is usual in the arrangement of buildings of this description. The court is spacious, and the general design imposing, while the effect of light and shade, as may be seen in the print, is very striking. A balcony supported on stone bracketsof bold proportion and of very elegant design, protected along the outer edge by a low parapet or open stone screen of great beauty, affords the means of external communication between the several suites of apartments of the upper story; much of this screen has disappeared, but the portion represented in the upper left-hand corner of the picture conveys a good impression of its style. Bold projecting eaves of stone slabs, supported either by carved brackets or an ornamental coving of stone, run round the upper part of the façade: their chief use is to throw off rain, but they add greatly to architectural effect, and in all the parts of this palace they form an important feature in the design, which has invariably received the careful, and it may be added, successful attention of the architect. The door seen at the end of the broad pavement is the entrance to one of the small courts which flank the main hall on the East side of the garden, to be described with the next print, and also one of the approaches to the Mossumun Boorj.'
