View looking towards the stone bridge across the Ganges Canal. A note at print 8 explains the function of the structure: 'The term 'superpassage' has been applied to works on the Canals in these provinces, which convey drainage over the channels by a well protected and parapeted masonry passage. In contradistinction to aqueducts which carry a perennial supply, and are built for the purposes of a regular flow of water, the superpassage merely acts as a water-course during floods, and at other times is subservient to all the purposes of cross communication.'
