Khusrau questions Buzurg Umid on natural sciences, the composition in two panels: on the right the bearded Khusrau talking to Buzurj Umid who waves a chowrie at him over a large-flowered plant, against a yellow background; on the left three courtiers stand listening against a red background. Curtain swags above. At the top a vertical projection suggests a tent roof.
Ink, and opaque water-colour on paper; size of folio 340 by 260 mm; miniature 112 by 204 mm.
Note: From’ Shirin u Khusrau.’ Considerable overpainting on the right panel of a yellow ochre over a different yellow, resulting in flaking apparently of both, revealing a paler yellow ground. Oddly the paler colour is itself an overpainting, as an additional lower red swag is partly revealed., as is a red object behind Khusrau.
