Two illustrated pages from a dispersed manuscript of the ‘Khamsa’ of Amir Khusraw of Delhi.
By a Sultanate artist, c.1450.
Purchased 1994.
Note: Both folios have been tampered with, probably in the 19th century before the manuscript was dispersed onto the international market; the first has the miniature from a different folio along with a small piece of text underneath, laid down at the top of another unconnected folio, the second is composed of two folios stuck together. Both also show considerable retouching and overpainting from a very early date.
