Inscribed: ‘A Pagoda at Magree A Pagoda at Magree in Mysore’ on the backing sheet.
Note: In his ‘Twelve Views of Places in the Kingdom of Mysore’, pl. 4, Colebrooke published a view of the principal temples of Magadi (‘Pagodas at Maugry with a distant view of Sewandroog’), and writes that ‘the place of observation was a little open pagoda on a rock, near the S.W. corner of the enclosure’ which appears to be this pagoda.
