Inscribed on reverse: ‘No.43. On the Ganges, above Boglipore-Oct 1810’., and in another hand ‘P.Wm Forrest 1864 No. 4.’

Note: Finished water-colour for ‘A village on the Ganges above Boglipore’, plate IX of ‘A picturesque tour’, see p.145, ‘We crossed to the Boglipore side of the Ganges once more, and landed from our ferry-boat near a small village, .... It is very prettily situated in a creek, which runs inland from the river, and is some few miles above the station of Boglipore. We got some good peacock-shooting near this place, the country being for the most part wooded, and abounding with these birds.’
