FORREST, CHARLES RAMUS (d.1827)
British Army. Served in the West Indies and South America from 1778 to 1781 with the 90th Regiment of Foot. Went to India in 1802 with the 3rd Regiment of Foot and stayed until 1811. Two sons were born while he was in Bengal. From 1812 to 1815 he fought in the Peninsular Wars and then went to Canada, serving with the Earl of Dalhousie, Governor of Canada, at Quebec from 1821 to 1823. Forrest died at Bath. He published ‘A picturesque tour along the rivers Ganges and Jumna’, London, 1824, with aquatints based on his own drawings.
