Panorama of Kandy looking across the artificial lake to the town and distant mountains. The lake is crossed by a raised causeway with wide streets running up the hill transversed by smaller ones. The governor’s house, Queen’s Pavilion, is on the right with Lady Horton’s Walk winding up behind. The group of buildings around the Temple of the Tooth lie along the lakeside and the building on the small island was at this period used as a powder magazine. The main barracks with the soldiers’ gardens are on the left and the citadel is above the town.
Inscribed: ‘Panorama. View of Kandy. P. Lysaght’.
