Water-colour; 10 by 14.5 cm.
Note: Thomas Prinsep was attached to the first experimental voyage, to Allahabad, of a wooden paddle steamer on the Ganges. The ‘Hooghly’, built by the New Howrah Dock Co. with a 25hp engine imported from England, was launched on 29 March 1828. See G.A. Prinsep, ‘An account of Steam Vessels and of proceedings connected with Steam Navigation in British India’, Calcutta, 1830.
