With a view to improving the system of recruiting which prevails in the Bombay Army, by which high caste men are to be preferred. Also related papers: newscutting from the 'Bengal Hurkaru' of 7 May, printing the circular, with comments; letter from H. Anderson, Secretary to Government Bombay to G.F. Edmonstone, Secretary to Government of India, Secret Department, 29 Jan, submitting the remarks of the Governor in Council on a letter from the Commander in Chief on the capture of Bushire; letter from the Adjutant General conveying the Commander in Chief's satisfaction with the proceedings at Bushire.
