Colonel Abbott, Ishapoor, 11 Nov 1856, replies to Lord Canning's questions about the dangers of Persian influence at Herat and Kandahar. 2. Colonel Abbott, Ishapoor, 15 Nov 1856, adds further observations. 3. Colonel Abbott, Ishapoor, 17 Nov 1856, discusses the question of aiding Herat by way of the Persian Gulf. 4. Copy of letter from Colonel Abbott, Camp near Tabreez, 20 Aug 1856, to Lord Clarendon commenting on the rumours that the Russian Government proposes to make a considerable addition to its Naval Force in the Caspian Sea.
