‘Register of Official Telegrams Despatched from the Public Offices from 1857 to 1858’
- Scope & Content:
-
Official telegrams despatched from the Public Offices were recorded in the register in number order under the initial letter of either: the surname of the recipient, the place the telegram was sent to, the place the message related to, or the subject of the message. Since the telegrams are listed in numerical order under each letter, the names listed under each letter do not follow in alphabetical order, and there may be more than one entry for an individual or place name in different places within a section for a particular letter).
The register entries record the number of the message, who the message was addressed to, the sender, the date of the message, and the message itself.
