436. Memorandum by Sir Richmond Shakespear, Agent to the Governor General, Central India regarding Dhar and Gwalior. He is against the restoration of the Dhar State as directed by the Home Government and in favour of giving a portion of that principality to the Bhopal State, and the rest to Scindia, Scindia to give a grant to the Dhar family of funds yielding 2 lacs annually. [1859]. In envelope.

Also a printed copy of the proceedings of a public meeting held in Patcheappah's Hall, Madras, 22 Sept, 1and59, to consider the Bill.

440. Copy of a Despatch from the Governor General to Sir Charles Wood, Secretary of State for India, from the Financial Department Camp, Agra, 26 Nov 1859. There will be no difficulty in carrying cut the change desired in the system of financial management and check in India. Suggests the carrying out of Lord Dalhousie's proposal for the union of the Borne and Financial Departments. Lord Canning explains his absence from the Presidency on a tour to the Upper Provinces and the Punjab; Mr Wilson will in His Excellency's absence receive all the necessary assistance from the President in Council and the Secretaries. Letter from Beadon to William Muir, 15 Oct 1858, about the sending of wives and families of convicts to the Andamans. It seems the only way to reconcile the convicts to their fate, so many of them have already died in attempting to escape. 3. Note on the means of approacihing families through the Emigration Agents, and on its dangers. In envelope.
