Contains letters to Clanricarde from various individuals, including Lord Clarendon and Lord Landsdowne, three copy letters from Clanricarde to Sir W. Somerville, Denis Daly, and A. O’Flaherty, and some other papers.

Many on of the letters and papers are on Irish affairs including: the Poor Law; the Galway Militia, including a 'List of the Officers of the Galway Regiment of Militia with their Rank and the date of their Commissions' (1848); a memorial to Clanricarde about a position for Patrick Goode (1847); elections and appointments in Galway; the Lough Corrib Company (1848); fisheries, including the Hibernian Fisheries Company (1847); and a copy of a memorial from the Clanfert and Kilmacduagh clergy to Earl de Grey about a parochial rent charge.

Other letters relate to: Post Office business, including letters from Lord John Russell, Fanny A.M. Russell and Charles J. Vaughan regarding the enquiry into Sunday duties; the London Election; and requests for patronage.

Also includes two documents in French, one entitled ‘Sur l’opinion public en Italie’ (February 1846).
