Mostly consists of correspondence between Clanricarde and various people, mainly concerning Ireland, including: letter from Lord Conyngham (1847); copy letter from Clanricarde to Martin Blake MP (1848); correspondence between Clanricarde and Lord Clarendon about the state of the country (1847); and letter from Thomas Doolan, a member of the Relief Committee, enclosing a copy letter from him to the Editor of the 'Daily News', regarding an account in a Manchester newspaper of paupers sent from Portumna to Liverpool (1847). Other papers relating to Ireland include letters regarding tenant rights, the election, and fisheries, including a printed leaflet on the Hibernian Fisheries Association.
Other papers include: petition for George Fairburn to be appointed as a clerk in the Post Office (1847); correspondence from H.L. Bulmer in Washington regarding postal arrangements with America (1850); letter from Mr Roger Therry (editor of 'The Speeches of the Right Honourable George Canning'), Sydney, requesting promotion of an application to be granted 18 months leave from the colony (1846); letter to Clanricarde from G. Staunton Lynch regarding the appointment of Mr Thomas Hall (1847); and correspondence between Clanricarde and Sir Somerville (1847), including letter from Somerville about an appointment for Thomas Mathews.
