Letters from W.M. Thackeray applying for a position, with a recommendation letter from Lady Blessington, a reply from Clanricarde stating it is unlikely that the position will be filled by a new person entering the office, it will more likely be a promotion, and copy letter from Clanricarde to Lady Blessington giving same answer (1848); letter from James Martin regarding Irish elections; letter from Alfred Gunnell asking for money towards an outfit for his eldest daughter whom Clanricarde has agreed to sponsor (1864); letter from George Sumner regarding the Committee on Prisons (1847); letter from Lord Desart on a controversy in the House of Lords, copy reply from Clanricarde, and a further letter from Desart (1848); letter from Rowland Hill enclosing a newspaper clipping about the Money-order Department of the Post Office (1848); copy letter from Clanricarde to Lord Clarendon on the Tenant-right question (1847); letters from A. Hayward and Sir H.L. Bulmer regarding the publication of George Canning memoirs (1867); letter from Lord Gosford with Colonel Cross's suggestions on militia (1859); and a printed copy of correspondence between Clanricarde and Hugh C.
