Papers relating to the oyster trade, including: five copies of 'Oyster fishery (England and Wales) Bill' (1864); handwritten abstracts of Oyster Fishery Bills (1864); three copies of the 'Herne Bay, Hampton and Reculver Fishery Bill'; maps showing permissions for oyster beds in Barony of Erris (1863) and the Barony of Ballynahinch (1860); handwritten list of prices paid for oysters for laying down on the beds; handwritten notes on expenditure at Whitstable oyster beds; printed pamphlet entitled 'Oyster Tattle and Truthful Digest of the Herne Bay, Hampton and Reculver Oyster Fishery' (1864); two journals featuring articles on oysters; and various newspaper clippings and printed materials on the oyster trade.
Also includes correspondence relating to the oyster trade and other Irish affairs, including: copy letter to James Redmond Barry regarding return of oysters (1864); letter from Mr W Crofts, Oyster Culturist (1864); letter from Mr Mitchell, Secretary of The Fish and Oyster Breeding Company (1864); letter from Charles Lynch, Ballycurrin Castle, asking for appointment as the Commissioner of the Peace for Galway (1871); and copy letter from Mr Lynam regarding the Shannon Floods (1872).
