Correspondence, mainly letters to the first Marquis of Clanricarde, relating to Irish administration and policy.
Includes: letters and newscuttings regarding the Irish constabulary, 1860; letters regarding Kingstown accommodation, 1859; and letter of October 1855 from Mrs Blake requesting financial assistance and enclosing a copy of the 'Connaught Journal or Galway Advertiser' of October 1793, which includes an account of the raising of Connaught Volunteers by the then Marquis of Clanricarde; correspondence regarding ecclesiastical courts, and livings of churches, including letters from Richard Eyre regarding the curacy at Portumna, 1851, and from Lord Cornbrook regarding the living at Loughrea, 1858.
Also includes: correspondence on Shannon funds for land improvement, including letter of April 1862 from Lord Derby writing that he will support Clanricarde's motion; letter from P Kelly, Longford, 10 March 1856, soliciting cooperation in obtaining compensation following his son's death; letter from Henry Reese [or Reeve ?] of 5 May 1859 thanking Clanricarde for his anecdote about the late Duke of Buckingham; and copy letter to Henry Reese of 15 May 1857 with evidence of absurdity and falsehood in Sir W Napier's life of his brother, in which he touched on the duel between George Canning and Castlereagh.
