Letters to Lord Dunkellin and Bills
- Scope & Content:
-
Mostly consists of letters to Lord Dunkellin. Letters from correspondents in India include Charles Canning at Barrackpore, November 1856, Charlotte Canning after Dunkellin's service at Bushire, Seymour Blane at Camp Bewar, January 1857, and H Boye at Poona, 1858.
The letters also include: a letter from Margaret A de Burgh at Portumna, 1855, addressed to the Army in the East, and addressing her brother Dunkellin as 'dearest Piggins'; a copy of correspondence, apparently made by the Marquis of Clanricarde and sent to Dunkellin, December 1857, between Palmerston and Clanricarde, in which Clanricarde is offered the office of Lord Privy Seal, and expresses in his reply his conviction that the government of India must be reformed with the abolition of the East India Company; and a letter from 'Henriette' in Brussels.
There is also a bundle of bills addressed to Dunkellin.
