- Title:

On the resources of Ceylon in rice
- Scope & Content:
-
(a) The Dutch original of the following.
(b) Four questions on Ceylon, viz (a) whether and how the island could be made self supporting in regards rice supply, (b) whether and how suitable timber for shipbuilding could be found there in sufficient quantity, especially on the eastern side of the island; (c) whether it would not be possible to import weavers and other craftsmen from Coromandel; and (d) whether private trade could not be increased.
Only the first question is answered and the answer is affirmative, but the means suggested (viz. the enrolment of coolies of the Moormen, or South Indian Muhommadans) seems ludicrously inadequate. Translated from the preceding.
