Account or narrative of usefull benefits which the Honble Company could derive by hiring or taking in rent the sea ports of Madure [= Madura] and a few adjacent villages of the Naik of Madure, and of the manner how this can be the best effectuated, and also an account of the present state of the Coast of Madure, drawn up by the Commandant Master Huysman to be transmitted to the Honorable Rycklof Van Goens Junior, Extraordinary Councellor of India, Governor & Director of the Island of Cyelon, the Coast of Madure and Inchiado, the town and districts of Nagapatam [= Negapatam] &ca.
Contains some account of the revenue system and quasi-feudal administrative constitution of the Madura country, and disturbances arising in connexion therein; also suggestions as to the best means for promoting the Dutch East India Company's interests in the port towns, as well as information about the pearl fishery, local trade, the Company's establishment at Tuticorin, &c.
