Translated from Verhaal van het begin, vortgaang en teegenwordigen staat der Koophandel, van de Generaale Nederlandsche Geoctroyeerde Oost-Indische Compagnie, published as above stated. (The second part is dated 1772).
The part here extracted begins with Matelief's departure from the Moluccas in June 1607 and ends with events of the year 1610. It deals chiefly with events on the Coromandel and Malabar Coasts and embodies a number of letters and treaties (including a letter form the Emperor of Pegu and one from the Sultan of Acheh) which according to the author had never been printed before.
