Cuperus [A Couperus?] Remarks on Majapahita [= Majapahit]
- Scope & Content:
-
An essay on Javanese history, comparing it with Malay history (the chronology of which, especially as regards the destruction of Singapore and the founding of Malacca, the author wrongly assumed to be as supposed by Valentyn). Contains little that can be considered of permanent value, but the author speaks of the introduction of Muhammadamism into Java and notices the Hindu character of Javanese antiquities (images, inscriptions, etc.) and compares them with those of India. He also describes some zodiacal cups in his possession. The essay contains references to illustrative drawings which are no appended.
