620. Memorandum by Major Bowie of his conversation with the Maharajah Duleep Singh, on 27 Feb 1861. His mother had prophesied that he would rule the Punjab, though a Christian. The Maharajah believed his Sikhs still worshipped him, and believed it would be better if he returned to England as quickly as possible.
620a. Memorandum by Major Bowie of his conversation with the Maharajah Duleep Singh, on 2 Mar 1861. The Maharajah is quite satisfied with the arrangements for his visit to the North West Provinces. Would leave it to the Governor General to decide whether or not he should go up country. Wishes to return to England via Bombay. In envelope.
