Copy of letter from Lord Aberdeen, Foreign Office, 10 Jan 1846, and copy of reply from Prince Albert, Claremont, 12 Jan 1846, regarding the proposal for Mr Smythe to replace Canning as Under Secretary for State for Foreign Affairs.
