Letters and copy letters (29 September, 1824 – 28 June, 1827) primarily between Augustus Stapleton (on G. Canning’s behalf) and Colonel Merrick Shawe (on Marquis Wellesley’s behalf) with some letters between Canning and Shawe. Includes:
1. Letters (13 – 21 November, 1824) between Colonel Merrick Shaw and Augustus Stapleton along with a letter (13 November, 1824) to ‘Peter Jefferys’ from Merrick Shawe.
2. Letter (28 November, 1825) to Augustus Stapleton from Colonel Merrick Shawe along with an enclosed copy letter of the same date to Lord Granville from Lord Bingham and a further letter (29 November, 1825) to Stapleton from Shawe.
3. Letter (30 November, 1825) to [G. Canning?] from Colonel Merrick Shawe along with a note from an unidentified sender.
4. Letter (16 December, 1825) to Augustus Stapleton from Colonel Shawe along with an enclosed note ‘State of the Poll’.
5. Letter (9 August, 1826) to Colonel Shawe from Augustus Stapleton along with an enclosed letter (7 August , 1826) to G. Canning from ‘Mr J. Duckett’.
6. Letter (2 December, 1826) to Augustus Stapleton from Colonel Shawe along with an enclosed letter (30 November, 1826) to Lord Manners from Shawe.
7. Letter (5 December, 1826) to Augustus Stapleton from Colonel Shawe along with an enclosed note to Stapleton from Lord Wellesley.
8. Letter (5 December, 1826) to Augustus Stapleton from Colonel Shawe along with an enclosed note (3 December, 1826) to Shawe from Lord Gost.
9. Letter (5 December, 1826) to Augustus Stapleton from Colonel Shawe along with an enclosed note from William Robert Tighe.
