1. Statement of Foreign Service Allowances to Madras Native Troops and Native Establishments with European Troops serving in Bengal. 10 Mar 1859.
2. Depositions taken by Lieutenant Colonel G. Williams relative to the massacres at Cawnpore, Mar 1858, with letter from Williams dated Mussoorie, 18 May 1859.
3. Printed letter no. 811 from Secretary to the Government of India to the Chief of the Staff, 15 Feb 1859, re: accommodation for Troops.
4. Extract from a letter from Major Bruce, Commandant of the Police in Oude, to Mr Montgomery, relative to the condition of the 'rebels' in the Nepal Terai, May 1859. Circulated 15 Jun 1859.
5. Four memoranda comprising 'data upon which General Birch's reply to the Governor General's queries was based, 10 Mar 1859'. Comprises: memo of the number of Artillery and Engineer Companies, and of regiments of Cavalry and Infantry of the British Army, which have arrived in Bengal from England and the Colonies since 1 May 1857, dated 8 Mar 1859;memo of remounts imported from the Colonies from 1 Jun 1857 to 9 Mar 1859; statement of munitions of war shot shell etc. arrived in the Hoogly since 1 May 1857, dated 9 Mar 1859; memo of the number of vessels arrived at Calcutta with Troops since May 1857, exclusive of those belonging to the P & O Co. [Pacific and Orient Company], dated 9 Mar 1859.
6. Papers showing the extraordinary expenses caused by the Mutinies, Mar 1859. Includes details of expenditure from the Commissariat, and costs of supplies to the Troops.
7. Papers relating to the appointment of the Chief of the Staff, 1857. Includes copies of correspondence between James Melville at the India Board, Lord Panmure at the War Office, and Charles Canning, as well as letters from Major General William R. Mansfield, Chief of the Staff, Major General Sir John Low, and Major General Richard J.H. Birch, Jul-Sep 1857.
8. Memorandum by Brigadier Colin Mackenzie on the Military state of the Deccan, 8 Aug 1857, and letter from Captain G. Nightingale to Lord Clanricarde re: Nizam's Irregulars.
