- ff.1-5: Sketches for 'Pentecost Music' (op. 22).
- ff.5v-39: Sketches for 'Alleluia!' (op. 23), interspersed with unused sketches for a setting of 'The Owl and the Pussycat'; a brief drafted letter; sketch used in music for Thames TV documentary series 'Crime Inc.'; structural notes on a twelve-piece cycle; and a list of books and scores to purchase (including books for Oliver Messiaen).
- ff.39v-64: Further sketches and notes, some unidentified. Includes opening six bars of a Benedictus; sketches for a setting of Ave verum corpus; brief notes used to teach musical notation; sets of pitch-fields and pitch-bands; an unused sketched idea for a PG Tips advert; and a sparse sketch for an unidentified piece scored for strings, winds and trumpets. ff.49v-63 largely blank.
