1. Letters to the Earl and Countess of Hardwicke as patrons:
- Letter from Dr Clark, Emanuel Close Cambridge, 25 March 1812. Regarding the Earl and Countess of Hardwicke’s patronage of an edition of the vocal works of Handel.
- Letter from William Cooke, 11 December 1815, regarding his new plough, with a letter to the Farmers’ Journal, by himself, dated 9 December 1815.
- Letter from R. B. Harraden, Cambridge, 17 January 1814. Regarding corrections to a forthcoming book and encouraging him to sit for a portrait by Edridge for the book.
- Letter from Joseph Clarke, 20 May 1817, promoting Clarke’s Dessicated Compost and Compressed Night Soil, accompanied by a printed brochure.
2. Documents relating to the apprenticeship of John Leary, born Whitechapel, 1796, to William Reavell, bootmaker, of Spitalfields, 1816-1817:
- Questions to John Leary about his age, and willingness to serve Mr Reavell for 2 ½ years as an apprentice, with his answers. Ends: ‘I am willing to serve Mr Reavell for 2 years and a half as an Apprentice. Jno. Leary, March 1 1816’.
- Questions to John Leary about his master Mr Reavell and willingness to serve the 2 ½ years, dated 8 March 1816.
- Questions to John Leary about his understanding of the apprenticeship indenture, and his father’s name. Payment totalling £20 to be made to Mr Reavell over one year, dated 15 March 1816.
- Notes on the apprenticeship of John Leary, born 1796, christened at Whitechapel Church, to Mr Reavell, bootmaker of 30 Red Lion Street, Spitalfields, and preparation of indentures, dated on verso 15 March 1816.
- Document recording William Reavell’s attendance at the vestry to state to the church wardens that John Leary has served him as an apprentice, and claim payment of £5.00, 20 September 1816. Followed on the same folio by William Reavell’s statement that John Leary has lived with him as an apprentice at his house in Fetter Lane, Holborn for the last two or three months, for which he claims £26 p.a., 28 February 1817.
