Fragments of drafts/proofs for published novels by Penelope Fitzgerald, including:
• The Blue Flower – one page of notes and one page of draft (both autograph).
• The Gate of Angels – collated proof with colour-coded corrections (typescript). With a photograph of the Aerated Bread Company premises, Stratford [an ABC tea shop is referred to in the novel].
• 'Desideratus' (short story from The Means of Escape) – typescript and manuscript draft pages.
• Human Voices – one page of notes (notes on Evelyn Waugh on the back) and two pages of draft material (autograph and typescript).
Also contains two photocopies, both incomplete, of the typescript (marked ‘1958’) of a short story by Fitzgerald, The Mooi. The story was first published in The Hudson Review, vol. 61, no. 1 (2008), along with an essay on Fitzgerald's unknown fiction. The essay can be found at Add MS 89289/9/6.
