Building Plans, Knill Church
- Scope & Content:
- Contains: a plan, by A B W Greenhough, architect, of Leominster, for the removal of benches at St Michael's church, Knill, Herefordshire to make room for a proposed prayer desk; a letter from the building contractor to Greenhough; and a letter from O[liver] Morel, of Llanveynoe, Monmouthshire, enclosing his account for construction and delivery of the prayer desk. Removed from E V Knox's general correspondence, Add MS 89289/6/19. The plan has been annotated on the reverse "Wilfred's memorial reading desk". Wilfred Knox (E V Knox's brother) was an Anglican clergyman, who had spent many summers fishing at Knill, often with E V., and had a rented cottage there. He often stood in for the minister when the incumbent was elsewhere in his scattered parish. In the 1940s Wilfred would take students to the cottage for reading vacations (see Penelope Fitzgerald, The Knox Brothers).
