Moore Bennett Memoirs 1918-1920

Typescript volume covers the period 1918-1920, and was written in 1927. It is entitled 'Constant Travel', and Moore Bennett describes in detail his return to China from Vancouver, via Japan and Manila, and his various travels to Hong Kong, Saigon , etc. with his wife Dolly, and his frequent travels on business. He comments in detail on individuals he meets and does business with, and details the setting up of various offices including Hong Kong. Moore Bennett takes various sigh seeing trips, including to Tung Ling or the Eastern Tombs of the Ch'ing Dynasty, to Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat in Cambodia, to Ma Shihkou along the old Karakoram Road, and to Jehol. Describes his business activities working with the Anglo Chinese Engineers Association Limited (ACEAL), and the eventual failure of the business. Comments on the French in Indochina, and the Annamese people. Description of the return voyage to England in 1920, and views on children. Describes his visit to England and travels regarding business. Expresses his views on the political situation in China, particularly with regard to the Americans.
