Typescript volume covers the period 1924-1926, and was written in 1927, together with section entitled 'Sport 1898-1926', which is bound at the end of the volume (pp.1410-60). Covers Moore Bennett's views on British trade in China. Describes in detail life in Peking. His views on the Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) Hospital. Details trip to Mongolia in 1924, shooting and surveying archaeological remains at Changtu and Dolonor. Comments on threats of war and financial crash in 1924. Moore Bennett's views on the welfare system in England. Details of the conflict between Chang So Lin [Zhang Zuolin] and Wu Peifu. Comments on changes to Society in Peking during 1914 to 1924, including 'the moral laxity of women'. Apprehension about the growth of Russian power, and the civil war, and the political situation in China. Describes looting of the Forbidden City, and refers to famine and floods as well as war in various states. Impact of the rising cost of coal. Train trip to Nankou, and walking trip to Fu Yea Pass with Dolly. Reports of rioting in Shanghai. Having to sell investments to cover overdraft. Detailed descriptions of friends and acquaintances, including comments on their character, behaviour, and looks. Refers to a history of Mongolia he is writing.
