These are wooden manuscript covers. In Sanskrit manuscript most often wooden covers also keep greater significance to contain historical features on art etc. However, these are simple wooden manuscript covers that were made to protect manuscripts from both sides. They are of different sizes. In fact, wooden covers are made and decorated according to the subject that the manuscript deals with. Most often related deities to the theme of the text were depicted inside the wooden covers as well as carved or decorated with various patterns.
