The letters record Brearley's visit to England, touring with his American friends Ben and Kris Kliegman, in September and October 1977, (shortly before, that is, Brearley's death, 19 November). The tour included visiting Henry Woolf in Folkestone, Harold Pinter's parents in Brighton, and lunch with Pinter in London. The sequence includes two autograph letters in German from Loytved-Hardegg to Brearley (8 and 26 Sep).
