The manuscript is formed by a text entitled Akattiyar vaittiyam-1500 of 329 leaves numbered from 1 to 328 on which it 1468 verses are inscribed; it is incomplete.
The text deals with three subjects: pulse reading; etiology and therapeutics; iatrochemical processes.
Concerning pulse reading: the text details the three types of pulses, the places for exploration, and interpretations of their reading, notably that of poor prognosis.
The etiologies analysed by the text concern venereal diseases, fistula, hemorrhoids, gastritis, gastric ulcer and eye diseases. The therapeutics which are exposed are the method to administer powder medicine through the nostrils (naciyam) and formulas recommended to treat genital infection, gastric and renal problems, piles, diabetes Mellitus, mental disorders, eye diseases, skin diseases and wounds, etc.
The iatrochemical processes explored in the text comprise the method to purify metals and minerals: mercury, sulphur, cinnabar, arsenic disulphide and trisulphide, arsenic trioxide, zinc, tin, dross iron, aconite, mica, copper, copper pyrite, gypsum, etc. and some poisonous plants such as Shorea robusta and croton seeds. It presents formulas of centūram (red calcined powders) prepared with tin and iron.
Size of the manuscript: 16cm x 3,6cm. The leaves of the text are numbered from 1 to 328. An additional leaf is placed between the leaves n°188 AND 189, and another leaf which does not belong to the tex close the manuscript. The manuscript is in good condition despite it was full of fungus. The leaves from 208 to 226 and 235 to 252 are partly broken or slightly damaged.
