The manuscript, comprising 107 palm leaves, is composed of 3 texts related to exanthematous diseases (fever caused by infectuous diseases such as measles). It is in excellent condition. The texts are written in prose.
Text 1- The text contains palm leaves numbered from 1 to 30; the leaf 19 is missing. Its terminology reveals that this text has been translated from Malayalam. The text classifies the types of vaicūri, describes the symptoms and treatment. The formulations to treat all types of vaicūri nōykaḷ which are mentioned are: medicated oils, pills and dried plant powder (curaṇam). It describes also the formulation of a curaṇam for stopping diarrhea inherent to vaicūri nōykaḷ in children.
Text 2- The text contains palm leaves numbered from 1 to 40; it is complete. The names of different types of vaicūri nōykaḷ with their symptoms and treatments are detailed. The text presents decoctions to treat kurukkaḷ (small boils caused by vaicūri nōykaḷ), to reduce the pain caused by the kurukkaḷ, pills for treating vaicūri nōykaḷ as well as nasal drops for calming nose discharge.
Text 3- The text contains palm leaves numbered from 1 to 36; it is complete. It explains the clinical characteristics and treatment of vaicūri nōykaḷ and mentions preparation of some medicines for treating fever and other vaicūri nōykaḷ-related health issues: decoctions for vaicūri and kurukkaḷ, external application for vica kuru vaicūri, medicated oil for kurukkaḷ, remedies for calming burning sensation, for stopping bleeding and diarrhoea, internal and external medicines (collyrium, drops and medicated fumes) against throat infection, nasal discharge and eye troubles.
Size of the manuscript: 22,2cm x 3,7cm. The manuscript is in good condition; only leaf 1, 68, 69 and 80 are damaged by rodents or broken. The leaves of the text 1 are numbered from 1 to 30 in Tamil and Arabic numbers; leaf 19 is missing. Each leaf contains 10 lines. The leaves of the text 2 are numbered from 1 to 40 in Tamil and Arabic numbers; there is an additional leaf 18, more small. The text is complete, Each leaf contains 16 lines. The leaves of the text 3 are numbered from 1 to 36 in Tamil and Arabic numbers, The text is complete. Each leaf contains 16 lines.The manuscript is in excellent condition.
