The manuscript contains two texts dealing with the knowledge of varma practice. The manuscript is in good condition; the leaves 1, 68 and 69 are damaged.
Text 1 –The text, entitled Akattiyar Narampu Cūttiram- 150, contains palm leaves numbered from 1 to 45 on which 150 verses are inscribed; it is complete. It describes injuries of vital points in the body caused by accident and treated by acupressure. This text explains the clinical features of various injuries according to their location in the body: between eyebrows (puruvam paṟṟi tallal aṭikaḷ), in occipital region (piṭari paṟṟi kāyam), in forehead (neṟṟi paṟṟi kāyam), in the clavicle (kāṟai ellil aṭikaḷ). A large part of the text is devoted to describe injuries of nerves (narampukaḷiḷ ati aṭikaḷ), notably the uvula nerve (uṇṇakku narampil kāyam), calcaneal nerve (kāl viravil narampu) and nerve of the second toe of the right leg (valakāl irantām viral narampu), the nerves located behind ear (kātiṉ arukil vāta narampu), in the site of sexual organs (mūlātārattiḷ cērnta narampu) and near the genitals (caṅkuṇi narampil kāyam), in the thorax (neñcil narampil kāyam), in the trachea (kāntāri narampil kāyam), as well as the nerve located on the left side (iṭakalai narampil kāyam) and in the central part where the left and right nerves crisscross (curuḷ narampil kāyam).
Text 2 –The text, entitled Tēraiyar Narampu Cūttiram, consists in 122 verses written on palm leaves numbered from 46 to 80. It is incomplete. It informs on human anatomy. It explains the therapeutic procedure for healing energy points located in the body injured by accident. It describes the clinical features of injuries in the three major nerves: itakalai, piṅkalai, cuḻimuṇai narampil kāyam (the first two nerves crisscrossing the third), and in nerves located in the occipital region (tārai narampu), in the great finger (peru viral narampu) and in eyes (atti narampil kāyam); of injuries in bones (elumpu) of the clavicle (kārai), the vertebral column (mutuka), and of injuries in the thoracic region (muṇṭelumpil kāyam), head (ciracil kāyam), sexual organs (mūlātara poṟiyil kāyam), near the liver (kārīral arukil kāyam), neck region ( kaḻuttin mel), Adam’s apple (cankelumpil kāyam), and in the index finger (cutelumpil kāyam). The text informs on the treatment of nerve strains (narampukaḷ curukki koṇṭāl).
Size of the manuscript: 27,0cm x 3,0cm. The leaves of the text 1 are numbered from 1 to 45 in Tamil and Arabic numbers. The leaves of the part 2 are numbered from 46 to 80 in Tamil and Arabic numbers. The manuscript is in good condition; the leaves 1, 68 and 69 are damaged.
