This manuscript is composed of a text entitled Vaittiya Cūttiram- 206, written in verses by Vaciṣṭar. The text has palm leaves numbered from 1 to 69; it is complete and the manuscript is in excellent condition.
The text is a treatise of preparations of medicine and iatrochemistry processes. The formulas presented aim at treating a wide range of diseases: burning micturition and urinary obstruction, gastritis, dysentery, abdominal colic, scrotal swelling, enlargement of lymph nodes in groin region, nasal obstruction and nasal diseases including sinusitis, headache, bed sores, eczema, wound, exanthematous fever, tremors and poisonous bites of rat, scorpion and snakes.
The preparation of medicines mentioned in the text are: Tāḷicapatiri cūraṇam; Koṭuvēli tailam and Komparakku tailam; Taḻutāli eṇṇai; Kūḻapaṭai racayaṇam, kūḻpāṇṭa racayaṇam, and Paṭṭai racayaṇam; Kōtampu lēkiyam and Vilvāti lēkiyam; Tāmira centūram, Lavaṇa centūram and Ayakkānta centūram; Turucu paṟpam, Lavaṇa paṟpam, Veḷvaṅka paṟpam and Loka paṟpam; Vāta rāṭcatan māttirai; Viṣṇu cakkaṟa kuḷikai; a kuḻampu for purgation (pēti) and a ney for pregnancy. Purification of copper (tāmira cutti) and details of fuller’s earth (muppu viparam) are also exposed.
Additionally, the text lists eighty types of vāta diseases.
Size of the manuscript 30,8cm x 3,2cm. It contains 70 leaves numbered in Tamil and Arabic from 1 to 69. One leaf is blank.
