The manuscript is composed of a text of 346 palm leaves numbered from 1 to 346 introduced by an index of 7 leaves. Excepted for the leaves n° 102 and 183 which is missing, the text is complete. The manuscript is in good condition despite many leaves are very darkened due to fungus infestation and some have their edge little damaged.
The text, written both in verses and prose, describes formulation of medicines:
Decoctions: Kāya kaṣāyam, Elāti kaṣāyam, Keruṭakkal kaṣāyam, Kōḻi kuñcu kaṣāyam and Pāvu kaṣāyam.
Medicated oils: Añceṇṇey tailam, Vāta kōṭāli tailam, Vilvāti tailam, Vāta rācāṅka tailam, Kōḻi tailam, Kumarakaṇṭa tailam, Rāṭcāti tailam, Civarāti tailam, Mūṉreṇṇey tailam, Muka caṉṉi tailam, Nayaṉa kiri tailam, Carvāṅka tailam, Pūraṇa cantira tailam and Cakacarāti tailam; Eṟaṉāti eṇṇey, Vilvāti eṇṇey, Kuḷir eṇṇey, Kōḻi eṇṇey, Karuṅkāli eṇṇey, Kuṟuntoṭṭi eṇṇey, Avuri eṇṇey, Tirumēṉi eṇṇey, Mēka rācāṅka eṇṇey, Kumari eṇṇey, Aṇil eṇṇey and Taṉvantirāti eṇṇey.
Dry plant powders: Kānta cūraṇam, Amirtu cakkarai cūraṇam, Tāḷicapattiri cūraṇam, Karicālai kānta cūraṇam, Cīṉappa cūraṇam, Acuva kantāti cūraṇam, Pāvu cūraṇam and Viṭaiyāti cūraṇam; Kōḻi poṭi and Pūvaṉ kuṟatti kailippoṭi.
Electuaries: Kaṇṭamkattiri lēkiyam, Vācāti lēkiyam, Civatai lēkiyam, Iñci lēkiyam, Tāṉṟikkāy lēkiyam, Acuvāti lēkiyam, Kumpalaṅkāy lēkiyam, Kalliyāṇi lēkiyam, Kapāṭa lēkiyam, Pūraṇa cañcīvi lēkiyam, Vilvāti lēkiyam, Veḷḷuḷḷi lēkiyam, Cintāti lēkiyam and Nārattam paḻa lēkiyam; Matu piracāyaṇam and Cūriya piracāyaṇam.
Medicated ghī: Āṭātōṭai kirutam, Tēvatāra kirutam, Kataḷi kirutam, Tēṟṟāṉ paral kirutam, Catāvēli kirutam, Pañcapāṇa kirutam, Muyal kirutam, Vallārai kirutam and Cukumāra kirutam; Pūṉai ney and Muyal ney.
Pills: Elāti kuḷikai, Veṭṭumārpaṉ kuḷikai, Vāta rāṭcacaṉ kuḷikai, Rāmapāṇa kuḷikai, Cañcīvi kuḷikai, Āṉanta pairavaṉ kuḷikai, Racāṅka kuḷikai, Vaṅkāra cañcīvi kuḷikai, Caṉṉi miruttuvāti kuḷikai, Mataḷai elāti kuḷikai, Pūpati kuḷikai, Māṟal cura kuḷikai, Kaṉakāti kuḷikai and Rāca vaṭivēlāti kuḷikai; Pañcapāṇa pūpati māttirai, Tirilōka cintāmaṇi māttirai, Kapāṭa māttirai, Utaya pūpati māttirai and Kaṭṭuvāti māttirai; Kānta Raca villai.
Wax like medicine: Kapa kuḻampu, Villai kuḻampu, Utiralāti kuḻampu, Mātaḷāti kuḻampu, Eḷḷu kuḻampu, Nāraṅkāy kuḻampu, Kuṟiñcāṉ kuḻampu, Cūta kuḻampu, Naṇṭu kuḻampu, Caṉṉi kuḻampu, Aval kuḻampu, Muṭṭai kuḻampu and Pūṉai kuḻampu.
Calcined white medicine prepared from metals and minerals: Raca paṟpam, Aṉṉapēti paṟpam, Turicu paṟpam, Pāṣāṇa paṟpam, Veṭiyuppu paṟpam, Vīra paṟpam, Karuṅkōḻi paṟpam, Cempu paṟpam, Vaṅka paṟpam, Veḷḷīya paṟpam, Apraka paṟpam and Tāḷaka paṟpam; Navakiraka vellai and Nīlakaṇṭa vālai.
Calcined red medicine prepared from metals and minerals: Tāḷaka centūram, Ayakānta centūram, Pañcalōka centūram, Pañcamuka centūram and Kariyuppu centūram.
Stone-like medicine: Tāḷaka kaṭṭu and Navalōka pūpati kaṭṭu.
A medicine prepared from hen: Kukkiṭa pāvu.
The text mentions also decoctions (kaṣāyam) for healing varma injuries, small pox (vaicūri) and dysentery (kaḻiccal); medicated oils (eṇṇey) for treating disease caused by vāta imbalance, eczema (karappāṉ), flatus in pregnant women (kerpa vāyu), sinusitis (pīnicam) and oral ulcer in children (tāmarai muḷḷu); medicated ghī (ney) for treating muscle growth in eye (kaṇ paṭalam), muscular atrophy in children (kaṇai) and urinary tract infection (mēka vaṟaṭci); medicines (maruntu; not named) for treating scrotal swelling (aṇṭa vāyu), colic pain (cūlai), dysentery (viṣa pēti), piles (mūla nōy), growths (kiranti) and jaundice (mañcaḷ nōy); pills (māttirai, kuḷikai) for reducing fever (curam) and insanity (paittiyam); a wick (tiri) for wound (puṇ); a powder used in nasal administration (nāci tūḷ), a dry powder (poṭi) for treating disease caused by kapa imbalance, a wax-like medicine (kuḻampu) for improving potency in male (tātu palam), a specific medicine prepared by baking method (piṭṭaviyal) for treating delirium (caṉṉi) and medicated fumes (pukai) to ward off evil effects of black magic (cūṉiyam).
Size of the manuscript 30,5cm x 2,8cm. The manuscript contains an index of 7 palm leaves, a text whose the leaves are numbered from 1 to 346 in Tamil and Arabic, and 7 blank leaves, the leaves 102 and 183 are missing. There are a few mistakes in the Arabic numbering. The manuscript is in good condition, but numerous leaves are very darkened by fungus infestation and some have their edge damaged by strings of insects' eggs.
