The manuscript is composed of a text written in verses on palm leaves of talipot (Corypha umbraculifera) numbered from 1 to 78. There is an additional leaf placed at the beginning of the text. Apart this leaf which is very damaged, the manuscript written in minuscule scripts is in excellent condition. Size of the manuscript 8,3cm x 5,8cm. The palm leaves of the text are numbered in Tamil from 1 to 78. There is an additional leaf introducting the text. Except for this leaf, the manuscript is in good condition, slightly damaged by rodents and larvae.
The text, entitled Tiruvācakam, was written by Māṇikkavācakar, a Tamil poet-saint famous for his contributions to Śaiva devotional literature. Most scholars currently date Māṇikkavācakar and his poetry to the 9th century. He is often paired with the three poets who composed the hymns of Tēvāram, Cuntarar, Campantar, and Appar, referred to nālvar. Tiruvācakam is one of the two devotional texts in praise of Civaṉ which were written by Māṇikkavācakar, the second being Tirukkōvaiyār.
