(1). ff. 1-2. The Light of Life (Lux Christi), op. 29. Composed and first performed 1896. Side drum part for no. 11, recitative and chorus (‘They brought him to the Pharisees’) only. Headed 'The Light of Life' in Elgar's hand. Former references: MS72; 1977.700.1.
(2). ff. 3-4. Caractacus, op. 35. Unused two-bar fragment, entitled 'Caractacus/March' and dated ‘Feb 23: 98’ in Elgar's hand. The fragment has been pasted onto a larger piece of card. Former references: MS222; 2014.10.
(3). f. 5. The Kingdom, op. 51. Deleted draft of two bars, corresponding to figure 76 in the published vocal score of the work. The verso of this leaf contains a pencil sketch for part Elgar's symphony no. 1. Both sides have been crossed through by Elgar. Former references: MS126; 2000.025. From the collection of Wulstan Atkins.
(4). ff. 6-7. The Crown of India, op. 66. The title 'Dance I' appears at the top of the first page, in blue pencil. The second page has been stamped 'Coliseum Masque'. The music is no. 1b ('Sacred measure') from Elgar's music for The Crown of India, first performed at the London Coliseum, 11 March 1912. Draft in ink, with annotations, cuts and alterations in pencil. Former references: MS46; 1977.67.
