ff. 1-47. Symphony no. 2 in E flat major, op. 63. Volume of musical sketches. Bound in a green presentation binding with a front page (f. iii) that states: ‘Extra sheets, and sheets of rejected composition, not sent to Mrs. Charles Stuart Wortley, but found after Sir Edward Elgar’s death, by his daughter Mrs. Elgar-Blake, who gave them to Mrs. Stuart Wortley’s daughter Clare, to preserve with the short score MS. Already in her possession. November, 1938’. Original foliation retained.
Includes (ff. i and ii) two loose slips of paper, 1 a list of the numbers of pages included in the volume (i.e. those that are single sheets, double sheets etc) and another note referring to the full score of '‘he Self Banished’, found inside.sketch material. Former references: MS101; 1977.675.
