(1). ff. 1-12. Untitled instrumental parts in Elgar’s hand for two flutes, oboe, two clarinets and viola. Former references: MS71; 1977.706.
(2). ff. 13-26. A gathering labelled ‘early wind’ with a contents page inside listing various short pieces. The only complete pieces present here however are a fair copy of ‘Shed Music 7’ (ff. 16-23v) and a draft of a fugue for oboe and violin (ff. 23v-24). The latter is dated at the end: 'May 6 1883'.Together with a letter, L10728 (f. 13). Former references: MS214; 2006.338.
(3). ff. 27-53. Drafts in short score of works including, 'Six Promenades' for wind quintet. Headed ‘From Shed Book no. 1’ on folio. 27r. Folios 50-51 marked 'Brass C P' suggesting that the material was later used in the Severn Suite. Former references: MS42; 1977.646.
(4). ff. 54-57. 'Harmony music for 5'. Flute I part only. Together with two leaves headed 'Presto' and 'Trio', presented on two staves. Former references: MS48; 1977.647.1; EBT MS 13; EBT MS 16.
(5). ff. 58-59. ‘Duett for trombone and double bass’, fair copy. An inscription reads: ‘composed for the celebration of the wedding of O. W. Weaver Esq. 1887’. Former references: MS130; 2000.010. From the collection of Wulstan Atkins.
