Unique copy of the oldest surviving comprehensive treatise on military archery by Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Aḥmad al-Ṭabarī (أبو محمد عبد الرحمن أحمد الطبري, active ca 9th century), missing the first part of the text. This treatise became a major source for subsequent furūsīyah texts.
In numerous chapters (أبواب), the treatise details the types of bows, arrows, quivers, cords, and thumb-rings; methods of shooting; training the novice; shooting at the birjās (target used in mounted manoeuvres); use of incendiary devices; the requirements of a good archer; the archer's faults, injuries and their remedies; bracing the bow; hints for archers in times of war; shooting at and from a fortress; night-shooting, and hunting birds.
Four small sketches illustrate types of arrows (ff. 36r, 38r, 38v and 40r).

صيد العصفور والطير كله
تأخذ الحلتيت فتبله بالماء وتجعله في ذلك
الماء شيئًا من عسل ثم أنقع فيه برًا يومًا وليلةً ثم
ألقي (!) ذلك الحب للطير فإنه يحيرها وتعين عليها
فما يقدر على الطيران وإذا أردت أن تبرئ أسقيها
لبنًا واخلطه بسمن والله الموفق لذلك كله
وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وآله
