The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 9 February 1862 and 21 January 1863. Informatin is provided on the date, the names of the plaintiff and the defendant, and a short title relating to the case. In the reporting of cases, information is provided on the oath taken by the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, and witnesses. Information is also provided on sentencing. The first pages of the volume are missing. The broken spine and damaged binding mean that a number of pages are loose. There is extensive water damage, and some traces of damage from iron gall. The paper is brittle, and some of the edges of paper are breaking away. There are also some traces of mould.
