The volume contains information on cases brought before the Assistant Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 1 September 1863 and 30 November 1863. It contains an index that lists the case by name of the defendant and provides the page number, the offence and how it was dealt with. The recording of cases includes information on the date of the case, the names of the plaintiff and the defendant, and the offence. Reference is also made to the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, and witnesses. The volume also includes information on sentencing. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is water damage, and some traces of damage from iron gall. Some pages are torn, and have been mended with tape.
