The volume contains information on cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between June and 21 November 1864. It contains an index that lists the case by name of the defendant and provides the page number in the volume. For each case, information is included on the date, the names of the plaintiff and the defendant, and the offence. Information is also provided on oaths taken by the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, or of witnesses. Information is also provided on sentencing. The volume is a continuation of another volume, as it starts halfway through a case. The broken spine and damaged binding mean that several pages are loose. There are some traces of iron gall in the volume.
